General Information

  • Earliest access to the campsite will be 5.30pm on Friday 23rd, please do not arrive before this time.
  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead, please clean up after your dog and dispose of in the bins.
  • Please do not drop any rubbish, including cigarette ends, this if FOD and puts our use of the airfield at risk.

We are pleased to be returning to  RAF Barkston Heath for the 2019 Radio Control, Scale and Control Line British National Championships.  We return by kind permission of the Commandant of RAF College Cranwell, Air Commodore Pete Squires OBE ADC MA Beng (Hons) RAF, who has allowed us to return once again to the home of the ‘Nationals’.

You may drive anywhere on the airfield that is not roped off but please take care as some roped off areas may not be obvious to you and the layout changes a little each year.

The airfield speed limit is 20 mph and the campsite limit is 10 mph.  Take care as there are lots of children around and speed limits will be enforced.

The MoD airfield licence requires that all vehicles used anywhere on the airfield must be road legal (taxed and insured with current MOT’s).  This means that no non-road legal bikes or cars will be allowed.  We have no choice in this matter and we cannot risk losing the airfield by allowing the licence terms to be broken.  ‘Legal’ motorcyclists WILL be required to wear a crash helmet whilst riding.  The RAF Police will be monitoring.

Barkston Heath is an active airfield and we must all make every effort to keep it clean and free from FOD (foreign object debris) including litter and discarded cigarette ends if we wish to return next year.   Please don’t drop litter and if you see anyone else drop any, then please ask them politely to pick it up.

Staging the Nationals requires a lot of time and effort both from the BMFA’s Staff and from the army of volunteers, without whom it would be an impossible task.  As Co-ordinator, I would like to record my thanks to each and every one of them for their dedication, enthusiasm and support in helping make the Nationals such a fantastic weekend.

I hope you enjoy your visit.
